February 2021 MBE Mean Score: 134.0

Graph shows the February MBE national mean scaled scores from 2017 through 2021. The score declined from 134.1 in 2017 to 132.8 in 2018. It then rose to 134.0 in 2019 before falling again to 132.6 in 2020. It rose again to 134.0 in 2021.

Graph shows the number of February MBE examinees from 2017 through 2021. The number declined from 22,269 in 2017 to 21,111 in 2018. It then rose slightly to 21,316 in 2019 before falling again to 19,122 in 2020 and 16,759 in 2021.

March 2021 MPRE MEAN SCORE: 99.0

A chart showing MPRE mean scores 2016-2020. In March 2016-2020 the mean score was 93.5, 92.7, 94.7, 93.8, and 95.8. In August 2016-2020 the mean score was 92.0, 93.7, 93.0, 93.4, and 98.6. In November/October 2016-2020 the mean score was 93.5, 94.1, 95.5, 97.0, and 98.8. The August 2020 mean score includes the following note: Comparability to prior results may be limited due to the lower examinee count in August 2020.

Annual Bar Examination and Admission Statistics

NCBE collects statistics from all U.S. jurisdictions on the February and July administrations of the bar examination and on annual admissions. These statistics, along with national score distributions, examinee counts, and mean scaled scores for the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) and the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE), and scores earned and transferred by jurisdiction for the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE), are published annually in the Spring issue of the Bar Examiner.
